Create Sub Menu Items
- Select pages that you want to use as sub menu item and add them to the menu area.
- You will see that they are added to the Menu Structure on the right.
- WordPress menu system supports drag and drop.
- Click on Save Menu to save your setup.
A sub-menu or drop-down menu appears when you have some pages under the main menu item layout and your hover this main page item on the navigation menu as is shown on the image above while hovering the ‘PORTFOLIO’ navigation menu item and drop-down appear.
Defining a Menu
- Login to the WordPress Dashboard.
- From the ‘Appearance’ menu on the left-hand side of the Dashboard, select the ‘Menus’ option to bring up the Menu Editor.
- Select Create a new menu at the top of the page.

On the WordPress admin menu, click Appearance > Menus and make sure the menu you want to use is displayed. In the left column expand the Custom links category. Enter whatever link text you want your menu item to display. Click Add to menu.
